Welcome to Newry Tennis Club
Established 1880 — one of the oldest tennis clubs on the island of Ireland, and still one of the friendliest.
A club built on community
Newry Tennis Club was established in 1880 and has been a cornerstone of sport and community life in Newry ever since. We are a friendly, inclusive club that welcomes players of all ages and abilities.
Whether you're a complete beginner picking up a racket for the first time, a parent looking for coaching for your children, or an experienced player looking for competitive league tennis — there's a place for you here.
Our courts are well maintained and available to members throughout the week. We run a full programme of coaching, leagues, social events and competitions across the year.
We are affiliated with Tennis Ireland and Ulster Tennis, and our coaching staff hold recognised qualifications.
What makes us special
At Newry Tennis Club, we pride ourselves on being more than just a tennis club. We're a community. Our members range from juniors just starting out to seasoned seniors who've been playing here for decades.
We run regular social events throughout the year, giving members a chance to get to know each other off the court as well as on it.
Our junior programme is particularly strong — we believe in introducing young people to tennis early, and our qualified coaches make every session enjoyable as well as educational.

The courts
Four polymeric courts, laid in 2008 and floodlit since 1986, open to members seven days a week. Courts can be booked online through ClubManager365.

A shared pavilion sits alongside the courts — the base for social evenings, tournament weeks and the club's competitions through the summer.
Affiliations
Newry Tennis Club is affiliated to Tennis Ireland and its Ulster Branch. Our coaching staff hold recognised qualifications, and the club is fully insured.

You're welcome to come along, look around, watch a session or have a knock about before committing to anything. Social tennis runs every Thursday at 7pm and is the easiest way to meet people.
